I travel and wanted to use Plex media server on my Nvidia shield tv pro that I travel with. I set the whole thing up at my house so that I’ll be able to play movies when I’m traveling if I don’t have an internet connection.
I’m at a hotel now…
All the movies and such are on an external drive and Plex shows an exclamation mark.
Was or is there a particular way to set this up so I can have a local PMS used without an internet connection or when a connection isn’t stable?
I’d say don’t try without an internet connection. It’ll only end in tears.
Connect the Shield to the internet,
open the App Store app
download and install Kodi.
Any ideas how to get it going? It’s one of the main reasons I thought I use Plex, was to be able to stream to my devices over wifi with my own content… regardless of internet
you can if you follow this. easier when you have internet. but if you are at a hotel that has internet you can still stream. it’ll stream locally but it just needs the internet to verify a few things. unless you have followed these instructions already.
and if you brought the shield with you just download a player and click on the files from your drive. you dont need to plex to play them.
