PMS Ubuntu 18.04.02 Not fetching meta-data and server settings unavailable

Server Version#: unknown
Player Version#: 3.95.2

About a month ago my PMS stopped retrieving meta-data and I’m unable to access the server settings.

New media gets added to the library fine but no meta-data gets downloaded.

Restart PMS, add one new media, or Plex Dance one with missing meta-data, and after that, upload a zip with the logs

Which log files are needed and where can I find them?

A zip with all of them, please

See: https://support.plex.tv/articles/226836308-help/

To add to Dane22’s post

  1. sudo tar cfz /tmp/Logs.tar.gz "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Logs"
  2. Attach Logs.tar.gz here

will also work.

Normally, Settings - server - troubleshooting - Download Logs is how to grab logs. That ZIP file is usually enough

For those lazy copy and pasters like me:

sudo tar cfz Logs.tar.gz /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application\ Support/Plex\ Media\ Server/Logs

Didn’t I post that just above your “lazy copy and paste” ? :joy:

I mean really lazy. Your post had quotes and was missing \

Just did a “Refresh Metadata” on a show that is missing the Metadata.

How is the media named?
Did you rename it before or after you placed it into the structure for PMS? (This is important)

Here is what I just created as a test.

Yep. That’s how I have them named which is probably why they show up in Plex. They just don’t have any metadata to them.

Refresh is not enough…

You need to do the Plex Dance

Danced!

Something is not right here.

Do you have “Local Media Assets” at the top of your Television agents list?

I didn’t have it set like that. Now I can’t even check what it is set to.

13%20PM

Logged into a different account?

Nope. I only have one account on the machine. It has been the same since I set it up many years ago.

Something changed. Something isn’t able to authenticate.
This happens when the server can’t authenticate you as the owner.
Does that host have a DNS issue?
Is it still signed into your Plex account? According to Plex.tv, it was last seen (checked in) about 5 hours ago. Has something changed since then?
