PMS upgrade continually fails

Since a couple of months ago, I can no longer update PMS. I get the error in the screenshots below (had it when trying to upgrade to 1.12.3.4973, and now when trying 1.13.0.5203).

I’m no tech expert but I can follow instructions, so if I am doing something fundamentally wrong, please tell me! This method has always worked previously:

  • download .qpkg file from QNAP website
  • perform a manual install from AppCenter by navigating to the file

I’ve tried restarting the QNAP several times, using different browsers etc. Any advice very welcome…

System:
QNAP TVS-471-i3-4G
4x4TB HDD, RAID 5

Due to the low res. of your screenshots, it’s sadly not possible to read the text!

Apologies!

Data error implies that either the build is currupted, which it ain’t, since I downloaded that version, and runs with it.

It can also happen, if your download failed, or the file you try to install has an (x).qpkg in it’s filename, where x is a number.
If the latest, simply rename and try again, and if not the latest, try and redownload from plex.tv again

And when you say downloaded from QNAP website, I assume you mean from plex.tv/download ?

Thanks for the response, Dane. Yes, I’m downloading from https://www.plex.tv/downloads/.

There’s no (x) in the filename, so I’ve deleted the download and tried again, but still the same result. I’ve also tried downloading using a different browser - again, no change. The filename looks fine, I think:

Does the checksum of the file match?

I’m not sure how to tell. I can see a checksum on the Plex download site, but I don’t know what to compare it to? Is that just a check that the file is “correct” - as I’m downloading it directly from Plex it must be, mustn’t it? Or am I missing something?

OK - checksum it was. Took five downloads to get an error-free one! Is that really normal?!

Oh well - fixed now, and many thanks for your help.

It’s not normal, and since a multiple re-download fixed it, I blame your browser, or some browser plugin or AntiVira solution
