I’m a Plex user for many years. Installed and maintained several server instances with no issues. Recently had to rebuild environment with fresh installs, 1st try with Debian and 2nd attempt using Ubuntu headless server installs. .deb package downloads and installs as expected. Webserver works and responds fine as client. However, I’m unable to locate the link to configure the library feature needed to index my local media files. My admin profile authenticates using pin successfully, but don’t see any library option to apply configuration for local files. I’ve read several how-to’s to reset the claim token and check network restrictions to no avail. It feels as if my profile is no longer honoring new plex server instances.
One more item, the system tells me “Not authorized You do not have access to this server.” when signing into the url http://my.ipa.here:32400/web a second time.
In order to complete the setup you need to open your Plex Media Server through its local IP from within the same subnet.
If you’re on the same machine… open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in your browser. If you’re on a different machine inside your home network, use http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web instead. This will bring up a wizard/dialog where you can name your server and link it to your Plex account (as well as creating your first libraries).
Once you “claimed” your server (=linked it to your Plex Media Account), you’ll also be able to access it from other Plex apps or via http://app.plex.tv/desktop.
Thanks for quick response Tom. I’m using private address space (below) and tried several VLAN perspectives, same vlan and other adjacent ones with and without network port filters and access control lists. The browser locates the published server instance and returns valid URL just fine. That’s just it. I’m not getting the wizard. Instead, i’m getting a different screen informing me that I’m not authorized. This seems to be an application layer access problem.
