PMS Won't start on Mac at all

Server Version#: 1.16.4
Player Version#: 1.0.0

Hello.

I am new to Plex, and just recently started evaluating it along with Premium.

Alas, I am getting the following error when attempting to run the .app:
LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10810 for the file /Applications/Plex Media Server.app.

If I try to run the ./start.sh located in resources, I get the following error:
./start.sh: line 11: ./Plex Media Server: No such file or directory

I redownloaded the installer, and replaced the Plex Media Server.app, and also tried deleting it, and again dropping the app in the applications folder. All to no avail.

Any idea?

First try repair your data base

Failing that a clean install will be required.

Hummm ok, so changes. I noticed 1.16.5 was now out. I upgraded, now the app runs. I guess it’s a bug that was fixed?

But, navigating to http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html# now says “the server” is unreachable. Yet, when I grep for Plex on a “ps -ef”, I get 7 running processes. So I am puzzled.

I get a different error now. How does one repair the DB though?

I have edited my reply above

Try this address in your browser.

Thanks. The repair did not work. I will see if there’s anything else I can try before full reinstall. It ran a good 48hrs importing all my files, so if I can save that, it will save me time recreating all my movies/photos/music/DVR, etc… :frowning:

The URL to desktop showed some content… seems like generic Plex links to news. But the server, still shows as unavailable unfortunatly.

Time machine backup?

Thanks for the suggestion. It got me into digging those locations and know where the info is stored. Alas, restoring the info (app, all the Library folders file) as far as I was able to, from Aug 12th, results in the same thing, stating the server is unavailable (and processes are running, etc, etc).

@Plex At this point, is a complete reinstall the only way? No way to salvage my DB ? And how can I avoid this in the future?

Since I had a backup, I went ahead and complete reinstall. It said an unclaimed server was on the network, and went ahead and reconfigure it. All the data is being created in the DB at the moment… so I guess I’m back. But worried since I don’t know what happened therefore not sure what to do to avoid it.

The old entry seems to be remembered though, now I have 2 servers with the same name, one can’t be reach. I’ll see how I can remove it.

Otherwise, full reinstall did the trick. If anyone knows what I can do to avoid this in the future… it would be appreciated.

thx.
