I live in Canada and pick up 6 channels in the area. I also pick up ~30 channels from the US. Less than half are marked as active and no programming guide information is found for the majority of the US channels. What could I be doing wrong?
If I enter a US Zip Code from Detroit (where the channels are from) I get good guide for the US channels
If I enter in a Canadian postal code (N6G, London) where the Canadian channels are from, I get a good guide for the small handful of Canadian channels and now non-function US channels as it can’t match anything.
What has been discussed on other forum threads dealing with situations where a user is able to receive stations from multiple markets is to pick a zip code closer to the middle of the two areas they receive channels from. Other users in Canada have found that picking a zip code on the border of the US and Canada has allowed them to have Guide data for the stations they are able to receive.
What I’ve found is that you either get guide data for the US or for Canada but not both. Picking a zip code close to the two areas was tested and didn’t work.
Ok. But from past posts regarding this same scenario others have gotten it to work.
Any update to this? This is still a major issue.,
This is still the answer. Others on the border of Canada and the US have used this solution to get all of the channels they receive with their antenna. If you don’t want to try different zip codes to get your server configured with Gracenote then your only other option would be to use an XMLTV provider to feed to the Plex DVR instead of picking an area based on zip code.
