Manual Port Forwards for Multiple Servers
If you have more than one Plex Media Server to connect, you will need to choose a unique external port number for each one. To do this:
Choose a different unique port number for each of your Plex Media Servers
Remember, you must use a different WAN/external port for each Server connection you want to have here. For instance, you could use ports 32401, 32402, etc.
Forward that unique external port number to LAN/internal port 32400 for the local IP address of the corresponding computer running that Plex Media Server - follow the previous instructions
For example, imagine you have two computers running Plex Media Servers and their internal IP addresses are “192.168.1.11” and “192.168.1.22”. In that situation, you might set up forwards such as:
Server 1
IP Address: 192.168.1.11
WAN/External Port: 32401
LAN/Internal Port: 32400
Server 2
IP Address: 192.168.1.22
WAN/External Port: 32402
LAN/Internal Port: 32400
On an ATT Arris nvg599- up until a week ago this worked perfectly - served two separate servers and two separate machines remotely with no issues. This week the functionality broke, did a factory reset on the modem/router, tried to re apply the port forwards - I can get one working fine - as soon as I try to apply the second (exactly as described in the guide) I get a “pinhole conflict”
Does anyone have any idea what is going on with that? This worked fine a week ago.
I also now get a direct connection unavailable message in plex for android (phone) when not on the lan with the server, that is published and has “full remote access”
The pinhole conflict is something unique to the Arris router/modems from what I can tell. I would delete all port forward rules and then reboot the router/modem. Add one back and test that it works for server #1. Add another back and test that it works for server #2.
Done this already. I can get one server to use the port forward (still get the direct connection unavailable issue on my phone) but the arris will not let me add the second one. Its because they both sit on local port or host port 32400. The arris forgets it is two seperate local ip’s and two seperate wan ports they forward to.
You might want to pick up a good router and have the Arris put into bridge mode, so it will be just a modem and then your router will take care of everything else.
i have has same issue it looks like plex doesn’t generate port open after specifing manual port
i tried allot to come to this conclusion on the only way i can get plex to run on two devices is to find a port that is already open or use a port generator to open port first. but you can run any port off plex and check ports open via netstat or other tools and plex doesn’t open port any more.
it only opens
TCP 0.0.0.0:32400 some-PC:0 LISTENING
seems to be a bug in newer versions rjlsoftware.com/software/utility/portlistener/http://
if your not on linux you can run above to open port first then run manual port and will conect while port opener is running as soon as you disconect so does plex
