Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun 4K Quattro and ATSC1.0 Quattro
I have a unique use case in that I have multiple HDHomeRun devices connected to different OTA antennas. I am using one tuner on each device to send Live Bandscan data to rabbitears.info to log OTA reception for each antenna/tuner combination. Here is the Live Bandscan data for both devices:
The remaining 3 tuners on each device are then available for Plex or any other application to use. The Plex Server plays well in this scenario provided it is the ONLY application accessing the HDHomeRun tuners when the Plex Server starts up. Once the Plex Servier is started, I can then start my Live Bandscan scripts using the tuner of my choosing. If my Live Bandscan scripts are accessing any one of the tuners during Plex Server startup, Plex will not find any of the tuners.
This is usually not a huge deal except when the Plex Server crashes and re-starts or when a Plex Server Update occurs. In those cases I have to shut the Plex Server down, stop the Live Bandscans, re-start Plex Server and finally re-start the Live Bandscans. More often than not, I’m not home at the time this happens and my wife wonders why she can’t watch TV. I’m sure I can automate this process, but it would sure be handy if there was an ability within the Plex Server DVR settings to limit its search to specific tuners rather than complaining that it can’t find any tuners if it isn’t able to control all of them.
