Possible Issue with Feb '19 Windows Update

Server Version#: 1.15.0.659
Player Version#: n/a

After applying the latest round of Windows updates and rebooting, my Plex server was unable to start. The system tray icon would show up and disappear a few seconds later. Checking PMS logs showed that the software was exiting prematurely because it was unable to locate a security certificate “%installDir%\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\cacert.pem”

I checked that location and sure enough, the file was missing. I was able to replace it from backup. My backups indicate the file was deleted around the time of the Windows Update reboot, which is why I’m thinking this latest round of updates may be responsible.

So if anyone notices their PMS installation having problems following this latest round of updates, it could be this missing cert. I’ve attached a copy for anyone who needs a replacement.cacert.zip (118.6 KB)

I had the exact same problem and was just starting a search to find where to generate/obtain a new cert file. Your file kept me from having to reinstall.

Thanks!
