With one that is already reported the sorting defaults to A-Z every time you leave window, it also seems that since all new added content, especially TV series - instead of having name of episode - it only adds the file name as is.

I tried removing the files again, removing all tags from the file - and when I add again, the file name appears and not the name of the episode.

The structure of my file names remain unchanged - some TV series in the 4th year and only the last ones I added since the update does this.

‘Unchanged’ doesn’t mean ‘Correct’. This is Correct:

Organization aside… The New Agent migrated the state of LMA (Local Media Assets) and if yours was on top of the stack, Plex gave your local metadata tip top priority.

Edit the Library/Advanced and disable ‘Prefer Local Metadata’.

Sometimes (very often) Plex gets a Title Field in it’s teeth and won’t let go - like an Alligator. The Plex Dance will make it open it’s mouth and drop the tennis ball:

The purpose of this is to remove all cached metadata and xml data for an item that Plex usually keeps. This helps when you want to “start from scratch” for particular item move all files for the media item out of the directory your Library is looking at, so Plex will not “see” it anymore scan the library library (to detect changes) empty trash clean bundles (in the menu next to server name, when accessed under ‘More’. Or alternatively under Settings - [server name] - Manage - Troubleshooting.…

All Steps - In Order - or it WON’T WORK.

If you’re still on the old Agents - The LMA Hack is the cure, but do fiddle with the LMA in either case. AND correct any lousy naming/structuring BEFORE doing the dance.

Video File Naming

With LMA in priority, Embedded Titles within MP4/M4V files are preferred - even over a perfect file name. Local Media Assets should - AT ALL TIMES - remain enabled (unless specifically instructed to turn it off). Local Media Assets should be ‘Demoted’, to the bottom of the stack of active agents under ALL tabs in Shows and Movies, but should NOT be disabled. Local Media Assets is needed for many things - it doesn’t need to be given Tip-Top-Priority (as Plex has so hatefully placed it as it’s …

For TV Shows - Dance the entire Show - if at any point it refuses to cooperate with a simple Refresh Metadata after corrective measures have been taken.

Also:
Revealing the Show name and the season/episode(s) in question may reveal something more than mystery - and they can be ‘tested’ to see if there’s an issue somewhere else. At the very least, the file path can point to issues in structure that crop up ‘out of the blue’:

The way i save has not changed and is correct.
I use the old plex agent because of the subtitles auto download

I will try the hack to see if this works as makes sense the aligator metaphor

I tried the agent mod first putting it all at the bottom, I deleted the info in each episode where the file name was, as was only 7 of them, the last 7 i added yesterday that were the problem, I then refreshed all metadata for the whole series - and has worked like a charm.

I will keep the “Dance” hack if this persists or happens again.
