Recently all my pre rolls have started showing as very small on my screen… I’m running the server on Nvidia shield…
The pre rolls were fine until just recently and now all pre rolls are shrunk down to about half or a third of the size of my screen.
Movies play full screen as they should once the pre rolls are done… what could be causing this?
I don’t know the player you used to view this on. Was it on a box hooked up to a TV, or a smart TV itself? It sounds to me like you might have messed with the aspect ratio settings on the player. If you choose “Original” rather than “Letterbox”, then videos at a smaller aspect ratio than your TV is set to (1080p or 4K, depending on TV) will display in a small box.
I’ve had that happen, where most of my videos were 1080p so I set the size to original. Nothing changed. But a week later when I viewed an older source video, I couldn’t understand why the video was so small. Perhaps your pre-roll videos are a smaller size?

I’m viewing on a JVC projector using my Nvidia Shield to access the movies. The aspect ratio on the projector is set correctly because the movies all show in the correct ratio… it’s only the pre rolls that are now displaying small… And it doesn’t matter if it’s my own pre roll or random movie trailers, they all display small.
Like I said these same pre rolls worked fine a week or so ago… has me perplexed.
The projector settings are fine, but the player itself (Nvidia Shield Android player) has an option. It’s where you select how to display items (Letterbox, sidebars, stretch, zoom, original). I’d assumed “Original” is best, but it then displays low resolution items in their “original” size, with 480p items being in a tiny square in the center of the screen. Letterbox is the best, the player will stretch out the video to max out the top/bottom, and add boxes on the sides if necessary to center the image horizontally.
I am not 100% sure this is the issue. Nobody else has chimed in, and it sounds to ME like it’s simply a player/side aspect ratio problem I ran into before. So let’s just double check if this is the issue.
I think you are right, the resolution on most of the pre rolls now show 1080p… where is it that you actually change that?
The setting is persistent. You only have to change it once, not for every movie/show/etc.

Thank you guys, that was it, I didn’t realize the video had to be playing to access the ratio… I was trying to find it in every other setting…
