Premium pass, downloads and playback restrictions

Hello, I am new to plex so bear with me. If I get the premium pass can I download shows from any user I am subscribed to? And can I download on any device that I have attached to my account? And If I get the premium pass do I still need to get the one time payment to eliminate the playback restrictions? And are the playback restrictions just the ads? And do you have to pay for that on each device? Thanks so much for any information.

Assuming they’re granting you permission to download media from their server into your Plex client.

Any of the clients supporting downloads. That’s the mobile apps (Android mobile and iOS) and the Plex for Mac/Windows/Linux desktop clients.

No. An active Plex Pass membership includes free access to the mobile apps.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re asking for. If you don’t unlock the mobile apps, they’re limited to max. 1 minute of playback for your own or shared media. This isn’t linked to the free, ad-supported content from Plex‘ own video-on-demand service.

The one-time activation is tied to the respective App Store account. So if you’re running multiple iPhones and iPads under the same Apple ID, the activation will apply to all of those. However it won’t transfer to your Google Play Store devices or Amazon FireOS devices. The same goes if you run the different iPhones/iPads with different Apple IDs.
