Previously tagged song ratings visible in PMS

Hi,
I have a very large music collection that has a ton of songs tagged with a number of things, including ratings. I would like to be able to use those tags for sorting and creating playlist (along with just being visible) - however, I don’t see the ratings tags being read.
Searching on the forum gives me the sinking feeling that this functionality maybe broken (or more appropriately, not supported) - but hoping someone could prove my research wrong.
I do have Lifetime Plex Pass. Thanks all in advance,

Ratings stored as embedded tags are indeed not imported. It hasn’t been added in the past ten years so I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

Plex also doesn’t write anything back to files, so anything you rate inside Plex, stays inside Plex, it won’t get written to the embedded tags to be usable outside of Plex. This actually makes some sense since Plex is multi-user: if one person rates a song 1 star and another rates it 4 stars, what rating would get written to file?

Thanks, that’s what I feared. Now to figure a work around…

If you’re good with Python and SQL you could write a script that pulls the embedded ratings out of the files and inserts them into the Plex DB.

Never been particularly good at either, but I have done both some time in the past… Mostly working on mythtv install
