Pride and Prejudice TV Mini Series

I know there have been several conversations about this specific series, but nothing I have found about the issue I have. I ripped the series from a DVD which comes in two parts. I cannot get Plex to recognize the two parts no matter what I do to the naming. The logs show that the folder and files are there, but no action taken on them. I can add them to the movies section, and it shows up, but without proper tags. Do I have to break the two parts into the 6-7 episodes or is there some way to make this work correctly? I have been trying for quite some time to get this to work and my OCD would like Plex to recognize the title correctly

Plex Media Server Version? See Authorized Devices

There are several versions of that show. Which one do you have?

Please show your current directory structure and file names for the show.

Have you tried Multi-Episodes in a Single File naming?

Your Media -> TV Show Files (Naming & Organizing) -> Naming & Organizing Your TV Shows

Pride and Prejudice from 1995 has six episodes. If you are only getting two from your DVD then you need to look at how you are ripping it.
I have it set as below and it is detected and matched perfectly.

If you are referring to the 1980 mini-series it only has five episodes but the same structure should work fine with 1980 substituted for 1995.

Sorry, it’s the 1995 BBC miniseries with Colin Firth. - I’ll take a look at some of the suggestions and get a screenshot of my current folder structure. I have tried about 15 different ways.

The DVD set came with two disks. The disk version I purchased is not divided into episodes. I use MakeMKV for all of my rips since I prefer the native formats. There were only two parts on those two disks. I haven’t spent a lot of time researching other tools because I haven’t had issues with anything else I have ripped.

Then do yourself a favor:

After you name it like this:

… don’t rip the big files to save time… you won’t be happy… nobody else is.

and if those really are MP4 files:

Multi-episode naming works, but read the caveats in the documentation (see my earlier post). You’ll probably be happier if you split the files into individual episodes. Splitting is straightforward using MKVToolNix.

If you use makemkv to rip the discs, look out for chapter markers in the files. They might have been set exactly at the episode boundaries. Which makes it quite convenient to split the files: [HowTo]: splitting multi-episode files with MKVtoolnix GUI

The Multi-Episode in a Single File solved my problem. Thank you so much for this. I thought there was a way to do it, but could never quite get the naming correctly. Once I applied that naming, it came right in. Thank You!

Glad it worked. Be aware of the caveats. Namely, “but playing any of the represented episodes will play the full file.” It is really easy to split the files into individual episodes using MKVToolNix, especially if they’ve chapter markers. See the document @OttoKerner linked.
