I’ve been thinking about buying the HDHomerun Quatro but ultimately what I would like to do is have the Quatro handle DVR duties and my Extend handle Live TV for its transcoding capabilities. Is this possible?
Only if you use two different apps. I like the “All Channels” iOS app for Live TV and I use Plex for DVR. Probably not what you were thinking but the only solution for your request.

Configure PLEX DVR to use the quattro and HDHRViewer to use the Extend…
Boom!.. workaround for the time being that does what you want it to.
