Hello, I have a question, I have a private IP address and I want to be able to access the Plex server outside my home.
Is there any chance to do it on a private IP address, change the ports or something else?
You don’t need a private IP address to enable remote access.
If you want to run it through your own IP address, you should be able to configure it in the Custom certificate settings in Settings > [Server Name] > Network:
Custom certificate locationCustom certificate encryption keyCustom certificate domain← this should allow entering an IP as well
You can tell Plex to use a different public port in Settings > [Server Name] > Remote Access – keep in mind that’s the public/outbound port; the PMS itself will always listen to tcp/32400 on your local machine.
Your best best will be to try to follow the Remote Access article.
The basics of it is that Plex does its best to try to automatically punch a hole in your router to allow remote access. This uses UPNP on your router, so if it is enabled you may find that remote access to your server works already. If it does not, you may have to manually enter a port forwarding rule in your router (google your router model and “port forward” for info on how to do it for your model).
