I have a ton of new content and it’s taken me about a week so far to add it. I started with setting up the server from scratch and adding in all the folders at once so it would scan them all one-by-one adding all the content in each category automatically.
The problem is the server hung at one point and needed to be restarted. I have been able to get it to add some folders which is taking a long time but when it finishes and I press to scan the next folder it either does nothing or after a few minutes the “Activity” icon starts spinning in the top-right corner but when clicking on it doesn’t say it’s actually doing anything and no content is being added.
I have experienced this with other folders but eventually, I have been able to get it scanning. But it’s hit and miss and I don’t know why it’s not just scanning all the folders automatically even though it set to scan when it detects changes or periodically every 6 hours.
How do you have it named - Example “Episode.title.S01E01.2060p.WEBRip.x265-TROLLUHD.mkv”
What is the folder structure - Plex/TV/TV-4K(Or applicable folder)/SeriesName/Season 01/Episode.title.S01E01.2060p.WEBRip.x265-TROLLUHD.mkv
What kind of PLEX library did you put it in? - TV series (Or Videos)
The issue is not with it indexing content but getting it to start indexing it. Once it indexes it identifies everything fine. For example, I have a folder “Plex/TV/TV-Classics/” with over 200 series in there i’m trying to index next but each time I click to scan it’s doing nothing.
Yeah, I’ve tried them before it’s not a database issue. However, I think I might have just worked out what’s going on…
When it indexes new content I see it being added, then it processes the images and following that it starts doing some kind of processing of each file. Although it appears to be doing nothing I’ve just noticed under the “Alerts” section that it’s going through each file still doing some kind of processing.
It’s just there’s so many it’s taking far longer than normal.
ah ok. You might have things in the servers general library settings set to do things like start making chapter thumbs when media is added. You can change that to only do during scheduled tasks. (that you can have set to run over night) or not at all.
ahh yes I did have “Generate intro video markers” set to “as scheduled task and when media is added”…
So where are the settings for scheduled tasks? When is that processed as I might need to disable it until the rest of the content is added which is going to take days.
