Hello,
I recently buy a HISENSE A7GQ (it’s using VIDAA U5 but I have problem when I run a movie from my plex server the picture is lagging/motion lagging. At first I thought it’s from the file but I go on my other tv (LG) and started the same movie and it was running smoothly, then I put the file on a USB Flash and tried to see if the problem is from the TV but the movie was running smooth on the hisense with usb flash, then i run it again from plex and it was still lagging. The TV is connected with ethernet cable for better internet connection and the speed of my internet is 100 mbps download and 100 mbps upload. It’s not from the internet connection and it’s not from the tv it self, I think is something from the plex app.
How to fix that problem… it’s super annoying not healthy to watch on it…
Got the latest logs. It shows that at the start of playback, it was transferring at around 10 MBps, which is more than fast enough for your video. But after a few seconds, the speed slowed down to about 2 MBps, which is still ok for your file. Then a few more seconds later, it dropped down to <1 MBps, which is just barely able to handle the video. It also shows that the transfer is getting interrupted and does not complete, so the app has to go back and request part of the file again. This repeats a few times before you stopped playback.
Typically, this is caused by a bad network connection. Is the TV using WiFi to access your server? If so, check the WiFi channel it is using. There may be interference from somewhere. Try other channels and see if that helps. If your TV is wired to a router, check the cable to make sure it is not damaged.
Update: It’s only gives me option for “DHCP” (it’s on it) and “Manual” (to write all the IP by hand).
By the way I know that options you told me (I also have LG TV but there everything is working fine at same conditions as the HISENSE TV)
If it works fin eon the LG, then I don’t know what’s causing this. The app on the LG and the Hisense are the same, except for some customizations to match the platform, but they are essentially the same.
Can you try switching the port on your router that the TV is plugged into? Maybe it’s a bad port.
I take off the Ethernet cable and then I connect the Hisese TV to Wi-Fi 2.4ghz(Still the same problem) and then to 5ghz (Still the same problem)
I take the LG Ethernet cable(because i know it’s 100% working) and then I connect the Hisense TV with it (still the same problem)
I tried the Hisense cable on the LG TV and it was working fine.
I even started that same file on android b-box via plex app(with the same account and it’s on my home network also) and it was working fine. (the tv is very old 2012 but the picture was smooth.
The Hisense TV, the Plex app and the Plex Server are Up to date. The cable is working, the router is working fine.
With things working fine on everything else, I’m still thinking it’s something with that Hisense TV. Can you try playing a Plex ad-supported content to see if those stream properly or if you have buffering there too? This will eliminate your server being the issue.
It is working there, for me it wasn’t perfect maybe because it’s HD quality but was better.
I don’t know what information gives that for you but I run that file(and other files) on multiple TV’s, I also shared that file(folder) to my friends and go there to see if it’s lagging and it wasn’t (that’s on LG, TCL and old Sony tv from 2010 with android box TV’s ). That is talking to me it’s not from my Plex Server.
Right, if this still isn’t working great, then it points at the device. I can’t say if it’s the Plex app or the TV itself. Like I said earlier, the app is the same as on the LG, so the app should behave similarly. There was nothing in your log to indicate the app was having issues. The only thing it shows was a slow transfer, but there isn’t a way to tell what’s causing it.
I said it’s working. but because was HD quality it wasn’t perfect. Also I told you already I tested the TV with USB flash with the same file and it was working perfect as it is smooth.
That is not the same as streaming. That also uses a different video player, not the same one Plex uses for our app, so you can’t compare. That player most likely uses software decoding for the video, while out app utilizes the device’s hardware decoders. If there is an issue with the hardware, their player won’t show issues, but ours will.
It’s just pain to watch on plex with that lagging picture, I don’t remember if i mention it before but the sound is working normally. (if that means something)
I’m having the exact same problem as d0d0…but not all movie/tv shows have that problem. On my other older tv’s everything is fine, on my Hisense 70A6BG some movies are lagging. I think that could be related to the version of the mkv file (i can gather all problematic versions and share them here).
One more thing… about three days ago, subtitles stopped working - they just don’t appear any more (I can select them, but they don’t appear)?! Any clue? And yesterday there was an update (not sure ATM to which version).
