A friend of mine has a gmail-account with a dot in it.
I added him to my friends list, but I wasn’t aware of the dot (mail works without a dot too).
He received a mail, but the link in that mail lead him to a page that the link was intended for another mail address.
He then told me about the “dot” in his address which may be the problem. I removed the user without the dot from friends in my Plex and then I tried to add the user with the dot.
This threw an error:
There’s some bug in the Plex procedure where in some cases these 2 mail-addresses are treated either different or the same in different places of the process.
So now I can’t add him anymore.
I think it would have worked if I, on the first try, would have used his address with the dot
But I already wrote that I was able to add and still can add that same user without the dot, so it couldn’t have been that limit.
If I add the gmail-user with the dot, he will get again a new mail with a link.
It then says (on his computer) that the link is intended for another mail-address.
For certain it’s an issue with the dot.
It wouldn’t have been a problem if he would have registered his gmail-address without a dot. He would still be able to receive mails with dots in between, but he registered his gmail-account with a dot.
I don’t think many people did (percentage wise).
why not grant him access with his username instead of email? i can exactly tell based on what you wrote if they have a plex account or not but they should set one up then grant his username access.
