I am using Plex on Macintosh using a HDHomrun tuner… I am trying Live TV and have run into a problem.
Though all the channels appear to be detected, a few are unavailable meaning the channel shows in the Manage Channels Plex list of available channels but are not checked as being available. I can manually check the channels but once I click save I can go back in and those same channels are again unchecked and unavailable. Also, if I check the channel and look at the available channels in the channel list drop down not all available channels are shown in the list.
I know the channels ARE available from the HDhomerun tuner because I also have EyeTV software and that software sees all the available channels including the missing ones in Plex, and the missing channels work in EyeTV.
I had issues when I de-selected channels in the HDHomeRun web config or in the Plex channel line up. The channels would still populate the program guide. I tried to fix it by removing the tuner, adding it again, and then allowing the program guide to completely refresh.
Prior to it completing the program guide refresh, de-selected shows would show up on my iOS device. Not sure if this would help, but maybe?
I tried removing and reinstalling the tuner but the results were the same. The issue is in Plex but I am not sure why at this point. The channels are there because I can tune them and watch them in EyeTV. Plex fails to detect them from what I can tell…

I enabled some channels from the HDHR web interface (that were disabled) and then tried to add them to the channel lineup in Plex… I encountered the same issue as you did. They never enable – even after a program guide update.
Anybody from the PLEX team reading this willing to provide some input… The problem still exits. I have 52 channel in my scanned channels list but only 21 ‘available’. The problem has not changed since I originally posted it.
I am waiting for any input on this issue that might resolve it
To review, Plex fails to recognize, or rather make active some TV channels from the available TV channels on HDHomeRun tuner. The channels that are missing work on other software and are listed in the Plex channel list but they cannot be made active in Plex. One additional piece of information about the problem… The problem channels are not in the channel list drop down in’ Manage Channels’ option though they do appear.
On this image you will note the channels are listed but not checked (14-1 through 14-4 are checked only for demonstration, I cannot select those channels on the channel drop down because they are not there as can be seen in image after this one.)
Missing channels can be checked with the idea of making them useable channels, but the correct channel cannot be selected and saved for it as it is not on the available channel list.
In my case it makes using theTV recording functionality close to useless. The channels ARE available from the tuner, it is just that Plex does not recognize them.
Any input from the Plex folks would be appreciated.
