Server Version#:DSM 7.0-41890
Player Version#: (None because I can’t install
Hi!
It’s happening that when I try up to date plex media server from respective source, the package that is required for my synology (DS918+), not the offer by the package center, it’s shows to me a message that I can’t do more. I first gave the permissions that it’s demand, on local users, the user “plexmediaserver”, to read and to write.
And happens to, that in my local users folder, when i unninstal the “older” plex media server, stills one called “plex”, not “plexmediaserver” as the advice says.
Your issue here is you are looking at users under the ‘Local users’ dropdown. You must click that and look under ‘system internal user’. It is here where you will find the new PlexMediaServer user which will need the correct permissions set.
Hi - I am having lots of issues with getting my synology NAS linked up with Plex. I tried to follow some of the steps you outlined but I think I probably screwed everything up more than when I started. Prior to the 7.0 upgrade, based on the last few releases of Plexserver my system was working better than it ever had (it was hit or miss since I stood up the system during the early days of March 2020 as my pandemic music digitization and streaming project). I would REALLY like to get this settled and working, so please help.
I have a Synology NAS D218. I upgraded to DSM 7.0 without doing the proper pre-working I have seen discussed in this chat. I have now managed to disassociate my server from Plex as well. From what I can tell I cannot revert to the previous DSM version. Can you help walk me through what I need to do to unscrew this?
Hi - when I wrote the post there was no data in the shares file and no migration.log file and DSM 7 is still installed.
I uninstalled the plex server software and reinstalled it and associated the synology music folder library in the plex software. This seemed to work and the system started scanning the library files to add the information back into Plex. After about 15 minutes the server linkage within Plex broke again leaving me unable to play the files through my web based app or my iphone. I logged back out of everything including the synology NAS and Plex apps and relogged in - the server and libraries are now back in synch and I am rescanning the music library files.
So, basically it seems to be working again but the stability still feels like it’s shaky and I might have recurrences…
