I installed Plex Media Server from my Synology Nas then when I was looking around for where to add my server in on the website I somehow got locked out & now it says that i don’t have access to the server when I run the plex media server application from my nas. I changed the permissions for plex media server to have read/write access but there is still something else i guess that i need to change.
Is this a new installation ?
If so, Open the nas in your web browser by it’s IP address.
You can’t use “quickconnect.to” URLs to complete setup.
Once setup is complete, then you can use it. It’s only during this initial period.
You and the Syno must be on the same RFC-1918 subnet.
yes. i just created a new plex account. Thanks that seemed to work. Later in the video the YouTube instructor went over to control panel and plex was listed under user . I don’t see that. There must be something else i need to do.
Probably a video covering DSM 6. Synology forced a lot of changes with DSM 7. Among other things, the user plex is now PlexMediaServer and is a System Internal User, not a regular user account.

yes. I now have a plex & a plex media server shared folder. Plex is the folder I created & I guess plex created the other one? I’m not really sure why I need two but I guess I will learn about it more. Should both have read / write access to file station?
Do not touch the PlexMediaServer shared folder. It is where Plex Media Server stores its database, log files, etc.
The PlexMediaServer user needs at least Read Only access to the folders where your media is located. It will need Read/Write if you plan to use Optimized Versions, LiveTV/DVR, or other features where Plex writes to the media directories.
