That’s how multi-episode files are currently designed to work.
There’s a number of feature suggestions on how to improve this. Mainly suggestions to reflect such multi-episode files with a single library item (e.g. titled “Episode Name 1 & Episode Name 2”) or to guess / indicate where in the file each episode ends/starts and how to reflect this in the UI / playback (e.g. 1, 2, 3).
