Hello everyone,
I’m completely new here, but I’ve been using Plex for many, many years. My installation looks like this:
LXC container under Proxmox 8.2.7 (debian 12)
PLEX version version 1.41.0.8994
Clients: PLEX Web, PLEX for Windows, PLEX on LG WebOS
Content is on 2 NAS machines (QNAP TS-253D, QTS 5.1.7.2770 and QNAP TS-464, QTS 5.1.4.2596)
Mounting is done via NFS with autofs
This setup has worked without problems for several years - until now…
As far as I can tell at the moment, the problem for me relates to the movie library, not the tvshows library…
What I have been able to determine so far:
The paths are OK - the LXC container itself can access the NFS shares and their contents without any problems, see screenshot:
both in There is the same film in ‘mov’ and in ‘mov/plex-new’…
But PLEX doesn’t show me the content of ‘mov’ (it used to do that) and so I can’t mount it in the lower levels…! (see screenshots PLEX Web):

Any ideas for troubleshooting would be very welcome, because I don’t know what to do at the moment…
Sorry for my (possibly) bad English, I’m not a native speaker (German)
EDIT:
New findings - I think there is a different implementation of NFS on the two QNAPs - TS-253 works well for TV show as well as movie or photo libraries, TS-464, on the other hand, does not accept any subfolders via the “central” NFS share, although ALL subfolders in the mounted share are visible in the OS and can also be opened -
the NFS shares are set up identically (!) on both QNAPs …
I tested everything with a current & newly set up instance of PLEX on a new LXC container …
weird …
As a result, just like in the thread “Plex Files Unavailable but they’re not missing”, there are a lot of files that can no longer be played because PLEX does not see them - even though they are accessible from the OS - so from my point of view the problem is not with the mounting, as stated in this thread title (I actually wanted to add an answer to the thread mentioned), but with PLEX …
SOLUTION (in my case):
I had made a change on the “large” QNAP NAS and activated the “Extended folder permissions” (in addition to the “Windows ACL support”) - this was apparently the cause of the problems in MY case. After I deactivated this again, the contents of the NFS share including subfolders were recognized again and the media could be accessed and played again via PLEX.
So there is probably no connection with the thread I mentioned above…
Sorry for the excitement and “Good PLEXing”!
