Problem with Playback on Xbox One

Hi,
I have just started using my Plex setup with my new Xbox One. However, each time i view a movie, after some time, it stops and gives me an error regarding a playback-error. Are there any debugs i can enable to figure out where to go from here?

Thanks!

You should consider looking at the following post, a user had the same issue and managed to resolve it on his own.

If you still need the log, go to Settings > Server > Show Advanced
Scroll Down and Tick Enable Plex Media Server debug logging

Don’t turn on the verbose logging option, that level of logging is rarely required, more of a “if staff/ninja requests it”.

Thanks for your response. I did in fact already do what the post mentioned, however, with no luck.

I will try checking the logs next time it happens! (which is unfortunately almost every time).

Thanks again!

You’re welcome.

Go to your xbox, open plex, when the media is playing go to the controls ( to start/stop, RW/FF ) there will be a button for more settings .... On the right there is a setting for Quality, plex by default has this on Original.

Set this to something lower, try the 2nd or 3rd settings, for me this is usually 8 Mbps, although yours might show Kbps if the quality/size of the file is small. Let the video play and see if you get the playback issue.

If there is no issue then either you’ve got the server or xbox set-up as wifi and/or your media file is Bluray or of high quality, either way your network might be having a hard time passing the data, so you could try a wired connection (if one or both are wireless). Then again this could also be a performance issue, (server side), so I’d make sure that plex’s CPU and RAM aren’t overloaded.

You should also check to ensure all ports are fully open and that no firewalls or third party security are causing any limitations. https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201543147-What-network-ports-do-I-need-to-allow-through-my-firewall-
