Xbox One 'Unexpected Error' during playback

Hi.


I keep getting an ‘unexpected error’ whilst playing a vid on Xbox One app. When I click retry it starts again, but I keep getting the error every couple of minutes.

I had the same problem yesterday.

It would be helpful if you could send us your Plex Media Server log for when this happens - https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-Files - along with the (rough) time you noticed the error.

That way we can hopefully find out what the problem is. Thanks!

Thanks for the help.  Here's the server log.  The errors were mainly between 8pm and 11pm last night.

Was having the same issue, just had to add an exception to my firewall to resolve.

I'm going to chime in here, I have the same problem but think it has to do with the movie rip.

If you are doing a straight DVD Pass through rip of the movie and getting an awesome, perfect copy into one VOB file, you will have this problem with Plex.  Even if you changing the ext to MPG, PLEX seem not to support what it still sees as VOB file.

It's an incredible bummer to be honest and zero reason for it not to work as that MPG file plays everywhere else (including Xbox Ones Media Player Preview).

Not only well that not play on the Xbox One but not even the Plex Windows version either.

Unless something has changed it has been an issue forever.

So I'm now on the hunt to find a program that will rip into one MPG without re-coding or something that can take my files and convert them without changing the quality.

Having this error, too.

Any local or quick fixes for this? It’s making plex pretty much unusable right now. Video files play for a few seconds then crash out with the unexpected error

Why are all of you saying 'me too' without posting Plex Media Server logs? Saying 'me too' is useless without adding some kind of logging support that admins can look at.

I have this error. It occured once or twice during "5 ways to have ■■■ during halloween" tosh.0 episode around 16:50-17:30. and previous to that it happened a bunch during the southpark episode from 16:10-16:50(approximate times)

Please check these error logs out and let me know if you notice any issues. Plex has been unusable ever since I updated to the plex pass version. From Xbox One I get Unexpected Error. And from web clients on the local network even it can't play without buffering every 10 seconds and sometimes just freezing completely. It's over wireless 802.11ac which I have tested throughput to 250mbps easily, so there should be no issue there.

Please PM me if you find anything or need more information.

I captured again the unexpected error, and didn't click retry, here is how it goes down

A hard reset of the Xbox one seems to have solved this issue for me for now, it gave me a whole evenings viewing last night without any issues anyway. Before the reboot it was erroring after about 1minute every time I attempted to play something
