Problem with plex player on apple tv

Hi

Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685 (Synology 7.2.1)
Player Version#: 8.45 Plex for Apple TV
tvOS 18.5
Apple TV - A2169 (32Gb)

After authorization, the application crashes.
Before authorization plex application works.

ps please advise how to get logs in this case when application crashes ?
pss On LG TV - Plex application with the same server works without problems.

thanks

Here’s the instructions on how to obtain the logs from Plex on an Apple TV.
https://support.plex.tv/articles/212639598-apple-tv-logs/

it doesn’t work - because the application crashes. And log download is not available.
(and downloading logs, before authorization, when everything works - is not required )

Can you access the logs before authorization?

after authorization and plex crashes - logs are not available.

If there is another way to get the logs, please tell me.

Today I checked on all devices (iPhone, ipad, imac and lg tv) - everywhere the plex app works perfectly, the problem appeared recently - only on apple tv.

Is this problem only for me on tvOS 18.4.1 ? :frowning:

since the previous version tvOS, no problems whatsoever

logging(1).zip (35.1 KB)

log before authorization, after authorization I can’t upload - application crashes

No other logs in that package?

No - I can only download the logs after reinstalling Plex.
As soon as I enter the code at https://www.plex.tv/link/ - plex app on apple tv - it won’t load anymore.

now tvOS updated to 18.5 - the problem with Plex apps remains.

If I may join…
Similar problem as @dend describes. After about 4-5 crashes I get the message:

Oh oh… Irgendetwas stimmt nicht.
Sorry, that didn’t work. We are actively monitoring for issues. Try restarting the app or come back later.

Unfortunately it is not possible to grab any logs.

Preview Version: Latest Plex Experience Preview 2025.16.0 (1068)
A-TV: Apple TV 4K [first 4K Generation] A1842 (64 GB)

what version of tvOS you have ?

Sorry I forgot to mention that!
tvOS 18.5 [22L572]

I started having the problem with tvOS version 18.4.1 - you too ?

It is sad that there is no reaction to the problem - plex developers :frowning:

Yeah, this guess could be about right. Problems started about a month ago and tvOS 18.4.1 was released around 16th of April 2025 so it could be a problem of the combination first gen A-TV 4K, tvOS 18.5 and Plex Experience Preview.

Have you tried clearing the cache, Power Cycle your ATV from the Power source? ( Not Remote)

If you have try re installing the app.

There must be something odd going on as a number of other users are not showing this issue, sorry to say. If this is Authorisation issue it would be best to try a manual network setup for the ATV and using a strong DNS like 1.1.1.1

Cheers

many times, have already uninstalled and installed the Plex apps

dns now - 8.8.8.8.8 changed to 1.1.1.1.1 - it worked .
Strange, what did not like the dns of Google ?

I would like Plex developers to display an error when there is a problem with dns and not crash

thanks
