Ok, so I’m running my Plex Media Server on a MAC Mini. Have had virtually no issues for years, but about a month ago I started having an issue. When playing content on my AppleTVs (one is a fourth gen and one is an AppleTV 4K), if I pause it, or try to scrub (backwards or forwards), the remote becomes unresponsive and/or it hangs until I hit menu and exit out of what I’m watching (I don’t have to exit out of Plex completely, just what I’m actively watching).
The Mac Mini is hardline connected (no WiFi). One AppleTV is connected via hardline and one is connected via WiFi. As previously mentioned, the AppleTVs are different models. Also, this only started in about the past month. I keep my server up to date, and as far as I know my AppleTV updates apps automatically, so those should be up to date as well.
Is anyone else having a similar issue? Is there any fix (that I’m unaware of)?
By any chance, do you happen to direct stream, not direct play, your video? In my case, the issue seems to only occur when it’s on direct stream which is triggered by soft subtitles conversion (i.e. SRT to WebVTT on HLS). Forcing video transcoding (i.e. burning subtitles) would get rid of the issue.
Infuse seems to work fine because it is capable of getting direct play video with soft subtitles unlike official Plex apps.
