I am rather new to plex. I have my plex running through my Xbox one, connected to my server by ethernet cable. Everything worked great, 4k hdr, no problem. Today I started it, buffers movie comes on in 4k hdr, then it buffers again for probably 45 seconds and when movie starts it is no longer in hdr, colors muted. Have audio, picture looks crisp, looks like 4k. Any idea on where to start to find out why hdr is being disabled?
Hi there. HDR is not currently supported in the Plex app so that shouldn’t be possible. Is your TV actually switching to a display mode that supports HDR?
I manually turn on “hdr mode” on my Samsung tv, when it is on it automatically plays in hdr when it’s detected. It starts and plays in what looks like hdr mode because the picture looks great, color really pops off the screen. But it only lasts about 20 seconds. But I think you answered my question, plex doesn’t support it yet. So it must be my TV. Hopefully plex can support it soon because 4k hdr looks amazing.
