Problems with Live TV and recordings since upgrading to Big Sur

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3830
Player Version#: 4.47.3
Ever since installing Big Sur 11.1 on my iMac, I can no longer play live TV. I see the first frame, then immediately I get either an s3014 , s3015 or s3016 (Media) error. In addition, trying to watch anything that’s been recorded since installing Big Sur returns the same error and can’t be watched. My tuner is an HDHomerun 4-tuner model.

What’s happening here? I’ve been running Plex Server on my Mac with this setup for years with no problem. Is Plex Server not compatible with Big Sur?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Firstly Big Sur MacOS 11 is compatible. I would be trying to use Plex for Mac app and not the Web app

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll give it a try, but it doesn’t answer the question of why a working installation of Plex would suddenly not be able to play live TV when it’s been doing so perfectly for the last couple of years.

It may not be Plex but the Browser

This problem was solved by completely uninstalling Plex Media Server, restarting my computer, then reinstalling PMS. That seems to have gotten rid of the 301x errors and returned stability to my installation of PMS. The only other maintenance I did was before installing PMS again, was to power down the HDHomerun for 10 minutes to make sure it was not part of the problem.

I also took to heart the suggestion of SE56 and started using the Plex for Mac app in place of Chrome. I’m not sure that Chrome had anything to do with the problem I had, and PMS now works fine in Chrome. Nonetheless, although both seem to use WebKit as their programming language, I see the wisdom in using a dedicated app rather than a general browser as a front end for PMS.
