MacOS 26 cannot play live TV

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156 (I also tried the latest beta)
Player Version#: Web 4.147.1

Since updating to MacOS 26, Live TV will not stream. I use an HDHomeRun Duo, and up until that MacOS update, everything was working fine. The HDHomeRun works perfectly. And I even installed Plex Media Server on an older Mac running 10.13. Running live TV from that OLDER Mac workers great, so it’s very specifically a MacOS 26 bug.

This is a odd one, I have a Mac Mini M4 with MacOS26 installed and Live Tv works really well in PMS, Plex app for Mac, ATV, LG app, Android phone, iPadOS.

I would encourage to look for system conflicts, I had to dump Finder plist to resolve other issues. I’m not sure if this is connected.

Other possible solutions would be to Install PMS again over the top by Downloading from Plex.Tv and replacing PMS in the applications Folder. Then restart everything including the HDHomeRun. Check if there are updates for Silicon dust Device another.

Good questions. I should have laid out more of what I did before trying the old Mac.

I messed with a lot of settings. Things like hardware encoding, DNS server, and other things that people found resolved issues in the past.

I also fully uninstalled (according to the instructions on the Plex FAQ), restarted, and fully reinstalled a fresh copy of Plex Media Server.

Note that my computer is a little older Mac Studio M2 Max. So maybe there is a difference in hardware that is causing an issue.

It sounds like it is time for you to post your logs. Debug only, trying to play Live TV

Im seeing this issue also. Live TV always bombs out on MacOS 26. Im using the HDHomeRun CONNECT DUO.

Your Server hardware model?

Mac Studio M4 Max

Ok, this is using a default Browser like Safari and also Plex app for Mac

This is using Brave Browser and going to https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/live-tv

To actually get developers eyes on this you’re going to want to describe your actions then post server logs and player logs. I’m sure there is a problem because a lot of people are talking about it, but without that information they have no where to start looking.

For web logs: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/web/debug

Make sure debug logging is on for both web and server.

I would try Plex app for Mac. I live in AU and all OTA TV is Interlaced with mp2 audio.

The following is what is shown in the Activity Dashboard. Using Safari

I tried Safari and it didn’t play. So then I tried the Mac Plex app and it did work.

Tried Roku Ultra and its coming through heavily pixelated.

I would post your debug logs and I will link this discussion to the right folks.

Tried playing on my iPhone, Im getting CoreMediaErrorDomain error -12971

With IOS I am using the New Experience version 2025.26 which works, I don’t think thats available as a public release.

OK, so wild. I have been dealing with this TV issue for almost a week, including all day yesterday. Suddenly today, without me touching my computer and no updates were installed, now the live TV streaming is working all of a sudden!

Mac OS 26.0.1 just came out a few hours ago, did yours happen to update?

Nope. It’s supposed to install later tonight. :man_shrugging:

Having the same issue here… OS26 on M4 Mac mini… latest public server build, rolled back with no change… hdhomerun 4k which I can use no problem with the channels app on other devices. Dang it, but these guys always seem to figure it out… just hang for the next build I suppose… I have logs if needed but just going to wait it out, technology happens…
