Problems with norwegian language variants not fetching TMDB

Hi

I use norwegian as my main language in the libraries since I want item descriptions in norwegian.
This fails (fallback to English) for a lot of items and I have concluded that this is bacause of Plex treating Norwegian as one language and has no support for the two variants

There are two Norwegian languages called Bokmål (nb-NO) and Nynorsk (nn-NO)
Bokmål (nb-NO) is the most common one. Both are understood by all norwegians.

TheTVDB has support for both of these and I think this is why Plex fails to retrieve items in the correct languange since Plex does not have a setting for the specific Norwegian variants. Just ‘Norwegian’ - I can not correct this manually in “fix match” either since the options is missing nb-NO, nn-no

Two potenial fixes:

  • Add nb-NO and nn-NO as languages in Plex.
  • keep the ‘Norwegian’ option and use nb-NO as primary and nn-no as fallback in thetvdb/provider queries.

It would make Plex better for me and a lot of fellow norwegians. Thanks !

Plex really has a big problem with that. My language is Portuguese, from Brazil. TVDB and TMDB support both, but Plex always identifies Portuguese from Portugal, so I always need to edit manually.

Well. An good fix is either to allow the correct language codes for the provider to be selected. The best way would be a priority list of language codes.
The way it’s now very few shows /movies has Norwegian descriptions because of this bug/limitation.
