Problems with Plex Media Server on macOS

I’m 3 months new to Plex and also a Plex Pass member. After months of burning all my movies and music disc to my MacBook Pro, it has, thus far, been a big pain to set up the server and the NAS and get them to operate properly. There’s nothing simple about any of it. One day it recognizes the LAN, the next day it doesn’t. One day it recognizes the NAS, the next day it doesn’t. Then you spend days trying to figure out what the hell went wrong.

Please don’t hijack some other threads… that significantly reduces the chances that somebody else will find your post or respond to it (ignoring the confusion it might create for others if in the middle of a thread the topic changes).

As for your issue… would you mind elaborating – maybe you can start with what version of macOS and Plex you have installed? Is the Plex Media Server even running on your Mac or did you install it on that NAS (or is the NAS solely used as storage)? If your Plex server is running on the Mac – do you have the NAS permanently mounted as storage for it?
That description of yours is a bit vague to me.

As for the LAN not being recognized… would you mind sharing how your NAS and Mac are connecting to your local network (e.g. wired vs. wireless, all devices in the same subnet or connected to a different access point / router / …, do your devices have a static local IP address / IP reservation)?

From what I can tell, setting up the server is relatively straight forward… in particular if you’re able to follow the support articles.
