Problems with the creation of a full EPG when setting up a Live-TV-DVR using multiple Zipcodes

I am having problems with the creation of a full EPG when configuring and setting up a Live-TV-DVR using multiple postal codes.

NOTE: I have the problem when I configure a NVIDIA Shield Pro or a Raspberry Pi 4B Plex Media Server.

I am running version 1.32.5.7431 (smb) of the Plex Media Server on the NVIDIA Shield TV Pro and RaspberryPi 4B.

I have un-installed and re-installed Plex Media Server and Plex TV on the NVIDIA Shield using the Google Play Store and that has not fixed anything.

I am following the instructions from https://support.plex.tv/articles/225877347-live-tv-dvr/

I can add “+ Add channels from another lineup/location” using nearby postal codes as shown in step 6 without issues as described below.

I start with postal code 50310 and the NVIDIA Shield TV Pro finds ~60 local broadcast channels.
I un-check ~20 channels that I don’t want to appear in the new generated EPG.
Next I “+ Add channels from another lineup/location” 50226.
I then map some local broadcast channels from 50266 to 50310. This all works fine.

The failure is in step 7
Step 7: Once your lineup has been configured, select “Continue” to complete your tuner setup and initiate download of the electronic program guide (EPG) data. If additional unconfigured tuners are discovered, but not yet set up, you will be presented with an option to set up those devices as well.

When I hit “Continue”, the generated EPG has only 4 entries and not he expected ~36 entries. This is the problem.

When I use a single postal code of 50310 or 50226 the EPG has the correct number of listings. It is when I have two or more postal codes entered that only 4 listings are generated in the EPG and not ~36.

Any assistance would be most appreciated.

UPDATE: I installed an old 1.25 PMS version and that works fine. I will wait for a newer PMS version that will fix my problem.

Thanks for reporting the issue

I will try and reproduce and investigate

I did a quick test and initially only one of channels showed up - ones from one lineup only

I managed to get both sets of channels (channels from 2 lineups) to show up in the guide by going back to DVR Settings and for each lineup - clicking on the x enabled link and checking that the tuner channels were mapped to guide channels and I noticed they were not and so I re-mapped them and at the end - all combined channel sets showed up

I will look further - but could you try this out and see if it circumvents the problem

Hi sa2000

Thanks for looking into this problem.

Your picture shows that you have configured (2) tuners with a unique postal code/lineup assigned to each unique tuner.

That is a different configuration that what I have.

Scenario 1:
I have only one tuner and I am wanting to assign multiple lineups to the single Hauppauge tuner.
This method worked fine in the past on both a PI4B and the NVIDIA Shield TV Pro.
When the PI4B or the Shield TV Pro is running 1.32.5.7431 (smb) I have the issue.

Scenario 2:
I downgraded the PI4B and the NVIDIA Shield TV Pro to 1.25.9.xxx and I can assign multiple lineups to the single Hauppauge tuner without issue.

Scenario 3:
With the DVR and channel mapping working as expected and to my liking while on 1.25.9.xxx code,
I upgraded the NVIDIA Shield TV Pro to 1.32.6.7468 Beta.
My DVR and lineups and channel mappings all imported fine so I did not try to delete the DVR and recreate the problem while on 1.32.6.7468 Beta code.
Someone posted that 1.32.6.7468 Beta fixes my issue but I have not tried it while on the 1.32.6.7468 Beta code.

Would you be so kind as to try it again with one tuner on the 1.32.5.7431 (smb) code using the NVIDIA Shield TV Pro?

Also, would you be so kind as to try it again with one tuner on the 1.32.6.7468 Beta code code using the NVIDIA Shield TV Pro?

Much thanks for giving this a try/

I will need to follow this up to establish if it is a supported functionality. I will do the suggested tests and look into how the data is stored.

I will be starting to look into this.

Did you mean to say you have the issue with 1.32.5.7431 (smb) ?
Or you do not have this issue with this build?

@cyberbarter I have managed to reproduce this and see issues with multiple lineups for DVR Device that came in after Plex Media Server 1.32.2.7100 - this version appears to be ok

I will follow up and get diagnostics and refer to the development team

I’m having the same issue I think.

Adding two EPG zip codes to a single HDHR Connect tuner results in only the second added zip code being added. It seems to throw away the first zip code that was added. I can recreate the DVR and reverse the order and it always throws away the first (or all but the last) zip code.

Plex: v1.32.5.7349

Thanks sa2000 for looking into this. This bug seems to have been around for sometime. Keep us posted on what the dev group comes up with. Much thanks.

I am getting inconsistent results in my tests - using the current beta 1.32.8.7639

  • one test after adding 2nd lineup, resulted in no list of channels in the dropdown on the channel matching screen
  • cancelling and starting again, the dropdown did show up and actually all channels showed up at the end - first lineup ones and the few I switched mapping to the 2nd lineup

But in my tests of the various Plex Media Server vetsions after 1.32.2.7100, I did get several times only the 2nd lineup channels appeared at the end

There are actually further issues - even with the version that I thought was ok - 1.32.2.7100 - I am looking further

Plex Live TV gracenote is missing ‘matches’ to the channels in image. zip 71115 and 71101 tried with same results.
USA/71115/Shreveport, La/plex server 1.32.7.7261/epg Local Broadcast listings (38 channels).

I have identified a number of issues with lineups for more than one post code and have now referred the issue to the development team with all the diagnostics I captured

If there are any missing channels in lineups - please follow the process outlined here Reporting Plex DVR Lineup Inaccuracies - Live TV & DVR - Plex Forum and I will follow it up with Gracenote
