Program Guide data for *some* channels not staying up to date

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488
Player Version#: 7.9.0.8439

I have an issue that I’ve not seen described here.

The program guide is staying up to date for most channels, but not all.

For example, all of the channel 7 stations said unknown airing looking forward a couple of days in the guide. However if I refresh guide in the DVR settings, after the refresh all of the program guide data for that channel (7.1, 7.2, 7.3, etc.) fills in for a far as I can browse in the guide.

Later, I’ll find those channels full of “unknown airing” again.

Other channels are staying up to date for as far as I can browse in the guide.

Is there anything I can do to fix this, and is anyone else having this problem?

Regards,

Jim

I am also having this problem. I wanted to record the Super Bowl but for CBS and Fox the schedule shows Unknown Airing for everything 12 hours from the current time. The rest of the channels schedules are filled in correctly for a full week.

I’m having the same problem and opened a similar thread (Are EPG Issues fixed now?). Been trying to get Plex support to take a look for several days now with NO response. My system is Ubuntu running Version 1.14.1.5488.

Ditto to this problem and it seems much worse than when it first start occurring last October. At least the guide repopulates when I perform a manual update but it is a nuisance (to say the least).

I am having the same issue with the MacOS version of Plex. It has been consistent across all the version updates since the fall. I can refresh manually and the download takes a long time. I suspect some sort of time-out issue with the automatic EPG updates.

I am currently on V 1.15.0.659

I recently switched my DVR to use Zap2XML to create a data file from Zap2It. I set the configuration to retrieve 7 days of data without caching and run the update at 1am. Since making the change my EPG guide data seems to stay accurate and current. I’m not sure if I lose anything by switching from the Gracenote EPG updates, but at least it stays current.

Same issue here except the EPG will no longer repopulate even with the manual refresh request. I recently upgraded PMS to Version 1.15.0.659 with the hope that the EPG issue was fixed but no joy.

WildBill_PDX, could you shed a bit more light on the process you used, sounds like it could be a workaround until the EPG gets fixed.

I followed this post: How to use zap2xml for Plex EPG & combining multiple EPG sources

You have to delete your DVR and recreate it and also delete and recreate any scheduled recordings. I setup a cron job on my Ubuntu boxes to run the script at 1am just before plex scheduled tasks that updates the EPG.

I tried using zap2it as a program guide but immediately discovered that is was listing HD programs as SD on my PBS station. Any program that I tried to setup to record HD only wouldn’t record at all. I have several PBS stations here so I need to make sure the recording is HD and not from a SD channel.

I’m still having this issue with 1.16.0.1226.

With each new version I remove the DVR to nuke the EPG database and the set up the DVR, again, from scratch.

This issue persists, and still on a few channels and not others.

I am SO hoping this will fix the issue. See the note dated June 19th:

Also:

The EPG has been an issue for me since I started ;using Plex. The changes have improved it somewhat. I now can choose between two choices of zap2it. Whichever I choose, fails to include local channels that my Hauppauge tuner finds though they are strong. How can I get Plex to install the guide as it is produced by zap2it?
