Program Guide not showing Movie Art/Posters

I have installed Plex DVR and have HOmerun and it worked well for about two weeks with both movies and shows showing artwork and metadata.

Now when looking at program guide - TV shows have correct art - posters but Movies in the guide do not have any artwork, but do contain outer metadata.

I have tried refreshing the guide and have also deleted and reinstalled the dvr (I have even changed guide data from Gracenote, ICETV and back to Gracenote - still no movie art in the program guide.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix .

This has been reported several times, but it seems like nobody cares.

I have had this problem for so long now, But like you said failure404 nobody cares :frowning: I will move back to Kodi as there are other issues that don’t get fixed as well.

Would need logs and some screenshots taken after refreshing the guide and when you expect to see the artwork

A problem with missing images was recently fixed in plex media server version 1.12.2.4929 - could be related to your problem - see release note

I have the same issue that EPG does not show Movie art at all.

Also the Movie art is Landscape and cropped to be portrait, this is not evident in Plex DVR advertising.

iOS shows the same as MacOS Web, No movie Art and same Landscape art cropped

Using page resources in Safari Browser the following Screenshot shows the issue that makes EPG look terrible.

Logs attached when Refreshing EPG

Removed Logs as Tokens were enabled, will message you those.

i will check the logs later but are you on current beta ? there were fixes for gracenote changes
1.12.3.4973

Yes on the latest release sent Logs as message as I had noticed that Tokens were enabled

This is how the guide is supposed to look.

I have decided to take a 30 Day trial with IceTV. After 30 days it’s $3.99 AU per month for the PLEX Subscription. Will post Screenshots when the EPG is loaded. This may have to do till Gracenote sort out there misgivings

IceTV: Australian Vendor and Retailer of Smart Recording Solutions

Well the EPG from IceTV was in someways better. Artwork was portrait, missing artwork had Title Name displayed, in general a tidier look than Gracenote.

Update: Have deleted IceTV and gone back to Gracenote, the experiment proved that the wrong art as in Landscape is being pushed by Gracenote. Some art from IceTV is better in that it is reverent to Australian productions. But seems IceTV is not as productive with art, example “Harrow” a ABC show made in Australia is a very new series made in Brisbane Australia.

Conclusion: At this point I’m hopeful that these issues can be resolved by Gracenote and Plex Inc

My conclusion is this EPG could be handled better, the current version is not in a PLEX quality UI state. It is really poorly executed and disappointing considering advertising images as listed above available from:

https://www.plex.tv/features/live-tv-dvr/

I must say i’m disappointed but i do hold hope of a quick fix that does not distract from a normally good eye candy UI.

Thanks for the logs and screenshots

This could be an EyeQ issue - definitely not the case for onConnect

Would like to see the response that Plex Web got for the EyeQ EPG airings for the Movies
Could you first find out your server token as you will need it for the request that I need the response from
See https://support.plex.tv/articles/204059436-finding-an-authentication-token-x-plex-token/

When you get all the blank images for the Movies - please take a screenshot as before and then in a different browser tab, enter the following url
http://127.0.0.1:32400/tv.plex.providers.epg.eyeq:12/sections/1/all?type=1&beginsAt%3E=now&sort=mediaHeight:desc,mediaAnalysisVersion:desc,beginsAt&X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Substitute the server security token for the xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
When you get the response back in the browser, select all and copy into a text file and save and attach

Within that xml response there would be url’s for each image for each movie in the guide, i would like you then to try one of those thumb urls in browser to see if it fails

I am going to give you an example of one movie entry in that xml - it is not EyeQ but would be similar in fields provided

<Video title="Little Buddha" thumb="http://tmsimg.plex.tv/assets/p15229_v_v5_ab.jpg" onAir="1" addedAt="1523670783" originallyAvailableAt="1993-01-01 00:00:00" duration="9900000" year="1993" summary="A Himalayan lama suspects that an upper-class Seattle youngster may be the reincarnation of his order's late teacher." type="movie" guid="com.gracenote.tms://movie/MV004845900000" key="/tv.plex.providers.epg.onconnect:5/metadata/com%2Egracenote%2Etms%3A%2F%2Fmovie%2FMV004845900000" ratingKey="com.gracenote.tms://movie/MV004845900000" contentRating="PG">

You can see in here the title Little Buddha and the image as the thumb= field. So in this example, it would be trying out this in a browser http://tmsimg.plex.tv/assets/p15229_v_v5_ab.jpg - so would like you to confirm that the url’s for the thumbs for the movies are reachable for you

Do they ever populate on the screen or do they stay forever as blank ?

Please also attach logs from the server - in case the the epg url changes and I need to make an adjustment to what you try

A P.S. - noticed this in your log

@SE56 you did not put the server token in the request
But … the new logs showing it is now eyeq:22 and not eyeq:12 - not sure why. Did you recreate the DVR or different one

The request to try

and you need to put the server token instead of the xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

and when you get a response back in browser, select all and copy into text file

Thank you - it is as suspected an EyeQ EPG issue
They are not providing images for the movies - see extract from the xml and there is no ‘thumb’ field

I will raise with the development teams - perhaps we should pick the icon/image for the channel in the absence of an image for the movie

It would also be good to raise the image sent is not portrait as used in my IceTV experiment above. Much tidier and organized program images, there issue being image Library depth or to be blunt, lack.

Thanks for finding the root cause, great job.
