Some programs that are recorded as a series and that have occurrences for today are omitted from the guide although they appear for the rest of the week. When tomorrow comes, they disappear for that day but appear for the rest of the week. The net result is that the program never records when the time comes. The program disappears from the guide for the current day only. This happens for several programs (NBC Nightly news, ABC Nightly news, etc) Other programs in a series do record and do not disappear from the weekly schedule. It seems to always occur for some daily news programs.
All updates have been applied to 1.12.1.4885. Please advise. Thank you
Would need logs from when this occurs.
Here is the zip log you requested Thank you
Was just chatting with Plex Dev and I would like to find out if you have the DVR Setting for Enable more frequent program guide refreshes enabled. I don’t have that option enabled and saw in my logs where a recording was dropping at 5:00 pm which is when one of the more frequent updates would run. I see yours dropping off at 9:38 am after EPG refresh is running. Before the update I see it scheduled in the logs at 8:34 this morning. Dev says he can reproduce this issue since the news is just ending where he is at.
Edit: Figured a screenshot might help
Yes, the enable more frequent program guide option is checked. I unchecked it and saved the settings. Is that ok?
Ok. Let’s leave that option unchecked for now.
Can you export the current database using the Settings/Server/Help/Download Database and PM the zip file created to me.
Then after the news items disappear from the recording schedule if you can grab logs and the database and pm them to me.
The before and after will hopefully give the Plex Dev what he needs to try to isolate the cause of these recordings dropping from the schedule.
I have a similar issue, never realized that the show disappeared everyday like mentionned here, though. But once jn a while, one of my shows (today for example) doesn’t record. When I look at the program guide, it doesn’t show up for today, but still shows up for.the other days of the week.
I also have more frequent updates turned on, I’ll turn it off I guess. My show is 19:00-19:30.
@KarlDag it might be related or could be unrelated and be a problem when recording the show. Logs would tell but needs to be grabbed as soon as the problem is detected. Just looked at a set that were grabbed 3 hours after the recording issue and latest time in logs was over an hour after the recording would have occurred so could not even look at them for the problem.
Here is the database zip file
Got it. Removed your DB file.
Just found out the EPG data is actually in a different DB and the Help/Download Database does not grab that file. The databases are located in: AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases and the database will look something like: tv.plex.providers.epg.onconnect-db3801b0-0ad8-4750-8400-deb89c064cb9.db.
The server runs on a Synology Nas DS916+ so how do I get to the database you have requested? Isn’t it on the server?
I don’t have a Synology and never worked with one. Found this Support Article on Where is the Plex Media Server data directory located? Hopefully this will assist you in getting to the database files.
I noticed this morning that the guide does contain those missing programs in a series today. It appears that the programs will record! It looks like the extra guide updates were the problem since that is the only change I made. I’ll let you know if they actually record later today (6:30PM).
I am still trying to find the database on the Synology NAS but have been thus far unable to do so as you requested.
All programs now appear and record properly. The solution was to uncheck frequent EPG updates. Thanks for your help!
