[PS3] Plex app on ps3 very slow

Hi there! Im kinda new here so i dont know if this is the right place to ask my question, im sorry in advance.

Im currently running my plex media server on a Dell R710 with kinda overkill specs for a media server i think. When im watching movies or just scrolling through my library the plex app on my ps3 starts working very very slow. Are there any fixes for this? Or are there more people having the same issue?

I Googled my problems before posting here and i did found some old posts from 2015-2016 with this issue.

Hope to hear from someone soon  Thanks.

With kind regards,
Robin

Hey trumpy81,

Thanks for your reply
I have already reinstalled it, but it makes no differance. My PS3 has a Ethernet connection, i dont like wireless for streaming.

Robin

Hello trump81,

In Plex the plex app on my PS3?

With kind regrads,
Robin

Hello trumpy81,

I dont think that will fix it, cuz my ps3 is the only device having problems.
Other devices like my phone, pc, tablet or chromecast is not having any issues.
Can it do any harm to my PMS?

With kind regards,
Robin

Hey Robin

This is no surprise. PS3 has a unique architecture thats currently over a decade old. It runs most of its apps except games like a snail, that includes its Plex app. I would advise against using your PS3 system as a client.

Uhmm, but the Youtube app runs very smoothly :), i know they might have a bigger development team on the app for the PS3, but still, it is possible. Maybe i should buy something else as a easy media player for my PMS.

What do you think those commands do exactly?

The command titles are pretty descriptive don’t you think?

Well,

Optimise Database: Removes bad stuff from the database… as a system administrator i dont like deleting stuff from a database. What if there is a bug in the software that will break my current PMS?
Empty Trash : No harm, just emptying the trashcan
Clean Bundles: I have no clue…

You may not even need an alternative device if trumpy81’s suggestion fixes the problem.
