PS4 2.0 | Surround Sound

Server Version#: 1.16.4.1469
Player Version#: PS4 2.0

Since I updated the Plex App on PS4. Surround sound does not work. I am getting 2.0 stereo. Please fix this!

PS I am using Optical for surround. Yes the PS4 has surround on games and Netflix.

Same for me. Super annoying just wanted to watch a movie.
Also performance is really bad. PS4 is lagging like hell with the new Plex Version.

Same for me as well! First appeared after updating Plex to 2.0 on PS4. Definetly a bug, makes the app unusable for me.
Video and Audio via HDMI.

Player Version: PS4 Pro 2.0

Thanks for report. We are looking into it.

Same situation; can you confirm this is a bug and/if it going to be fixed and when?
Thanks

I can confirm it’s a bug, and we’re working with Sony to track it down. I can’t give an estimate on when it’ll be fixed unfortunately, but we are actively working on it.

Same problem over here and waiting for the fix!

We’re testing a possible fix and if it passes we’ll get it out as soon as possible.

I swear to god i will pay for a LIFETIME suscription if you fix it Moussa! :sunny: :sunny:

Ok, as already written in the other thread, PS4-App 2.0.1. fixed the issue for me:

It still goes apeshit if you throw a TrueHD dolby 7.1 track at it causing horrible cracking sounds that could ruin your speakers if turned up too loud. This is not fixed, but it was a reasonably decent band-aid to get us through until the real fix.

The PS4 app does not support TrueHD dolby 7.1 What does it show the server is transcoding it to on dashboard? Do you have ac3 enabled in settings?

True I agree it does not technically support it, but in the past a TrueHD dolby 7.1 has been transcoded to 5.1 and everything is fine. AC3 is enabled in settings.

Fortunately I always keep a AC3 5.1 track as a secondary to TrueHD tracks just for compatibility sake so I do have a workaround, but man that horrible loud broken audio you get blasted with if you forget to switch it before you hit play is really bad.

What will it take to just take the app back to how it was working before all this started? From what I understand this wasn’t any kind of change that Sony forced despite that being implied at some point.

There any updates/more info needed on this? I don’t use my PS4 for plex that often, but the stuttering was pretty jarring while sitting in bed.
