I recently switched to hardwiring my PS4 to my network in order to help alleviate the PS4 buffering issues (with some success), but I also wanted to see if maybe just having the Media Player app read from my server worked better in the meantime. Lo and behold, it sees nothing. My server and PS4 are on the same network, but the MacBook (acting as the server) is wireless and the PS4 is wired. Ideally, of course, I’d like the rid myself of the buffering issues in the Plex app, but that’s not what this post is specifically for. I’m mostly just baffled as to why my Plex Server isn’t showing/accessible to my PS4 Media Player.
Hi there.
- Could it be the DLNA server, used by PS4 Media Player, isn’t actually running? https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200350536-DLNA may help.
- Likewise sometimes the DLNA server is disabled for security reasons. See: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/203948786-Plex-Home-Security-Changes
