Since last update on PS4 the quality of all VIDEO media dropped down dramatically. The one day I was watching a movie 1080p really smooth and no buffering at all and after the last update LITERALLY the next day and now I can’t even watch the video files in higher quality than 144p …it’s not like it doesn’t allow it to adjust the quality but even if I set the quality on 1080p and so on and still it looks like it’s '94 and quality is awful! 144p or 360p
What did you do?!?!?!?
EDIT: Uploaded the logs from the media server and currently watching a 1080p video and it looks like ■■■■.

Actually i have the same problem. I et the default quality to 1080p but still nothing happened. If i set the resolution lower it keeps the same bad quality. I hope there will be a solution to this.
yeah I really hate that … EVERYTHINGH was good … nothing has changed on my side and BOOM one time 90s video quality >_<
still no change in the bad quality of the hd videos via PS4 plex app… 144p or worse on HD 5000-6000 bitrate videos on the same TV I was watching crystal clear HD video files
From your logs:

You have a remote bandwidth limit set on your server. If your PS4 is on the same network as the server then I would ask if anything has changed on your network for your PS4 to not be able to access your server locally.
how to change this limit for the bandwith… I have no problem accessing my library from the PS4 … I looked up the whole settings and can’t find anything about a limit or w/e and I haven’t changed anything on my network… it’s like always was the same old network with my PC, my wife’s pc and the ps4

if you have the option Automatically adjust quality (Beta) uncheck that box … I unchecked it and the quality is NOW okay … when I clicked this I thought it will be better quality but nope … just uncheck that box and it should fix the video quality
I tried to change everything, still the shared videos quality are outrageously bad. I used this app for years, hadn’t any problems with it. But lately something went wrong. First i can’t connect with my PS4. Now i finally can solve that problem, instead the quality turned sh*t. It’s just upsetting that can’t get a proper answer. I think i will just give it up…
You need to post logs to figure out why the server is transcoding to a lower quality. Enable logging in the app first and then post some server logs here for us to look at.

After I posted the logs the answer I received had nothing to do with my problem… My problem was that one time the quality on my plex on my TV via PS4 went so bad even on HD videos … And I fixed it in the plex server web app on my PC on the settings apparently I clicked by mistake the option "automatically adjust video quality beta"and THIS was making all the videos with TERRIBLE quality… If you have problem connecting to you plex server… The best I can do is advice you to check if the device you are using for plex is on the same network as your plex media server… Update your plex app on the server side and on the TV/console … For my console for example I needed to give permissions through the plex web app that the ps4 is allowed to use my account/server.

It looks like you also have a bandwidth limit on the server for some reason.

I have the same problem that occurred all of a sudden, I have the server logs included in this message if you want to take a look at it and what can be done.
Have reset the router, uninstalled and reinstalled the PS4 Pro app but still the same low quality.

It also looks like your server has no bandwidth available at the time you were playing this video. Were other people playing from your server at the time? Would it be possible for you to have a look at my server log in the message above and see what can be wrong. It still does play in low quality and If you could be kind to say where it is wrong I would very much appreciate it.
Having the same issue my end. Remote quality set to 20mb/s and plex downgrading to SD.
Will try and post some logs later.
EDIT: exploring this further, it has to do with the “plex relay” option under network. The relay proxy downgrades the quality. However, after turning it off, the PS4 can no longer see the server. This is quite frustrating!
