PS5 constantly buffering 4K movies

@Moussa latest update (5.9.1) is trying to transcode every 4k file I have to h264 720p, as if the PS5 no longer supports HEVC.

@Moussa I just wanted to note that I’ve noticed that this isn’t limited to 4k HEVC files. Other 1080p h264 files will start off as a direct stream and then swap to a 720p transcode part way through. That doesn’t happen every time though.

I am also having issues with 4k HEVC HDR files stuttering. Running client version 5.9.1 and platform version 2.50. Really frustrating for such a robust device to not be able to playback media reliably.

After the latest updates any content direct played still has buffering issues, although its strangely hit and miss now. I can play one 4K HDR movie for for 20 seconds and it starts buffering randomly and uneededly or then play the same video against and then it perhaps make it 5 minutes in and then start buffering again uneededly.

Appreciate the rapid PS5 updates but directly play issues are plaguing us so hard right now.

@Moussa this is still happening in 5.10.0. Can we roll back somehow so that at least playing files that aren’t 4k is working?

Edit: Ok, setting Remote Quality to Original under the Video settings solved this problem. The server I’m using is not remote though.

Tested a 4k video once I swapped to Original for Remote Quality and its still locking up with videos at 155mbps. With a video at 52mbps it was stuttering and buffering briefly, so this issue is definitely still present. Like I asked in another thread @Moussa, any updates on this?

@Moussa I’m looking into this more and following why I had to change my remote settings to make it play 1080p properly. I watched my logs when my PS5 is accessing my server and noticed that its seeing it come from the router. Does that mean that the PS5 is going outside my network, likely using the relay, to access my server that is on my local network?

Just got a PS5, this is still an issue!

Still not fixed, so mark me down on the list. It’s not only 4K, it’s also 1080P despite having tried everything.

Like a version of Rush Hour played fine, but I wanted to watch #2 and it started the endless buffering so I decided to shut the PS5 down.

Why is this still an issue?

I’m still having this issue.
