Plex App works for Roku, Sony Vizio, iPhone, Android Tablets. The only device that can’t connect to the local server is the PS5. I can log in to the Plex App and it even has the name of the Plex Server but it says that it cannot find the server. I have a DHCP reservation for the server (on my firewall) and can ping the server via the server name inside my network. My network consists of a PFSense Firewall and Linksys APs throughout the house. This Plex app was working when my PS5 was used 2 months ago but now it won’t find the server.
The Plex Server is set to Preferred security connections.
I have tried changing the DNS to a public DNS but the app still won’t connect to the server. The server is on the same subnet as the PS5 but they are on different APs.
I have looked through quite a bit of the PlayStation tagged errors and haven’t found a solution.
I started playing a video from my plex app on my machine at 1611 and then went upstairs to see if the PS5 would connect and still got the wheel. Plex Media Server Logs_2024-07-30_20-13-35.zip (4.1 MB)
I didn’t see anything obvious in your server logs unfortunately. What is the allow secure connection setting set to in the PS5 app? Are you running a pfsense firewall or VPN or anything like those?
I am running a PFSense firewall and I have an entry for the name of the plex server to point to the server. The weird part is that it is all on the same subnet.
I worked on this last night and this morning. When I try to enter the text given into the custom options box I get " * Invalid custom options" from my FW. I’ve looked to see if it is syntax errors and I found a test mechanism that my FW doesn’t have a path to using the dnsmasq within pfsense. I am looking for an explanation about the custom options syntax but I haven’t found much. I am using OpenDNS and my FW is forwarding DNS traffic, not using the FW as a DNS Server. I am playing with the host override function now. I welcome any other methods of approach and thanks for your help!
