QNAP NAS and Mac

I apologize if I am posting in the wrong spot, but I could not make this post under the QNAP section. I have a Mac as my primary computer, and I have have many pictures, songs, and some videos on it. I just purchased a QNAP TS-451+ and installed the Plex Media server on the QNAP. How do I add media that resides on the Mac to my Plex Media Server residing on the QNAP? I am flummoxed.

First, unless you physically move/copy your media from your Mac to the NAS, you will have to leave your Mac on 24/7 in order to access that media. Are you planning on moving/copying your files or leaving them on the Mac?

I would like to move the media to the QNAP, but when I try to move the media, the computer tells me to “click authenticate,” but there is no place to click authenticate.

For that, you will need to ask for assistance with the QNAP folks on their support forums, and review whatever support documentation you have for your model NAS. You’ll have to learn the ins and outs of your NAS before diving in head first with Plex.

I’m sure a more Mac-centric and NAS-centric person will come along and offer some advice, but in the meantime try visiting the QNAP support site.
