QNAP only runs client, not server

When attempting to install Plex on my QNAP, it seems to only install the client (not the server).

I downloaded Plex 1.19.5.3112 directly from Plex and installed manually. It’s running on a TVS-872XT on QTS 4.4.3.1381. Thoroughly confused and just feel like I’m missing something obvious.

when you installed PMS and started the server,

you next opened http://ip.addr.of.qnap:32400/web in your web browser?

You got a web page back?

That’s the Plex/Web client (the server sent it to you-- downloaded into your browser) and is now there ready for you to setup the server.

Maybe some some general setup info is what you need?

This is the general/generic installation.

It doesn’t speak to QNAP but you talk to the QNAP server as I showed above.

Take a look here. Skip over that which doesn’t apply but do explore those things you aren’t sure about . It should jump out at you.

The basic process is:

  1. Install the software
  2. Attach it to your Plex account (signing in)
  3. Add your movies, tv episodes, music, photos and home movies.

Thanks for your reply. Your point about the IP address made me realise where the error is. The QNAP is connected to my PC directly and also via a switch. Using the direct IP gave me the client, but using the switch address gave me the server setup :slight_smile:
