QNAP server no longer sees itself

Server Version#: 1.18.2

I run a Plex server on a TS-251+. Everything was working fine until yesterday morning. Now, the apps on my phone and my smart TVs still work and can access my Plex server just fine, but if I attempt to launch Plex from the NAS or from my home computer so that I can manage the library, I can no longer access it. Instead, I’m getting the “No soup for you!” error. I’ve tried signing out and signing back in, and updating Plex, but it’s been no use. What could be causing this?

Let’s back out and come at it as if fresh.

  1. Go to App.plex.tv and sign out of your account.
  2. Exit the browser
  3. Open the browser
  4. Open an incognito window
  5. In that incognito window, open http://ip.addr.of.qnap:32400/identity
  6. See if it responds with the XML
  7. If it does, in that XML, it should say if it’s Claimed="1" or not.
  8. Claimed = 1 means it’s signed in., Claimed = 0 means it’s not signed in / claimed.
  9. If not claimed, in that same incognito, open http://ip.addr.of.qnap:32400/web
  10. It should go through the sign in and claim.
  11. Please let me know your progress and if this worked.
  12. If you can, Please make a ZIP or tar.gz of “Logs” directory (They are under PlexData/Plex Media Server/Logs if you have PlexData in use.)

Hi ChuckPa,

Thanks for helping me out.

I went through your steps and it shows that it’s claimed after I signed out.

Plexdata isn’t in use.

I just figured out what was happening. It was a DNS issue in my NAS. Found the answer here:
