QNAP TS-253A PMS unable to find HDHomerun Quatro

Server PMS Version 1.25.8.5663
Player Version 4.69.1
Hi, I updated the QNAP with the latest Plex update PlexMediaServer-1.26.1.5798-99a4a6ac9-x86_64
But then wanted to scan for more live TV channels as a lot was missing I then noticed that the Live TV & DVR was complaining that “device was not found check the device is connect on the network” All the channels were working through the HDHomerun app and home page but whilst I still had a TV guide, Live TV wouldn’t play or record on the Plex, I powered cycled HDHomerun and I uninstalled Plex and downgraded the server back to 1.44.0.2981-e2d72ac2, but still got the same issue, I then used a QNAP snapshot from the previous day where TV recordings had been working to see if that worked but still no joy. Both times it said found an unclaimed server so I claimed this server. I’ve scanned for another device but no device found, any ideas as I’m not really sure where else to go with this any help would be greatly appreciated?

According to your logs, your HDHomerun should be at:

Line 287: May 23, 2022 09:10:08.981 [0x7f8e188c5b38] DEBUG - DVR:Device: Testing grabber HDHomerun device device://tv.plex.grabbers.hdhomerun/12522737 at http://192.168.1.99:80

Can you confirm, that it’s actually at http://192.168.1.99:80 ?

Hi Dane, thanks for getting back…
HDHomeruns XML.txt (2.1 KB)

Yes that is the correct ip, I’ve installed plex on another machine under another test name thinking maybe it was something that is cached in my soulman247 name, and this installation detects the hdhomerun straight away, please see attached file that works, only trouble is test user hasnt got plex pass. very strange, on the QNAP Plex when I go to add tv device it doesnt find it, Ive tried adding the 192.168.1.99:80 manually and 12522737, HDHR-12522737, http://192.168.1.99:80. Thinking its my DNS Cache I’ve tried clearing it and stop and starting it on windows 10?
Thanks
Ian

Have you enabled QNAP Firewall?

firewall is not enabled. Only clamav antivirus

Hi Any update on this please, would somebody be able to help?

Ups, sorry

Somehow your DVR configuration is messed up in the database :frowning:

So we need to erase it completely

Could you for a start in the DVR setup delete the DVR, then in QTS AppCenter restart PMS, wait 2 min, and then see if you can setup a new DVR?

If not, then please upload a fresh set of logs after trying

Ok will try this tomorrow thx

Its not finding any DVR so I’ve uploaded the new logs?

This is so odd!

And gloves off

First, find your Plex Token, and take a note of that
Ref: Finding an authentication token / X-Plex-Token | Plex Support

Then make an SSH connection to your QNAP
Ref: Qnap faq.....read me first!

In the terminal window, type:
curl http://127.0.0.1:32400/media/grabbers/devices?X-Plex-Token=<INSERT_TOKEN_HERE>

Then show us the output, and when doing so, make sure to HIDE your token!!!

After that, also in the terminal, type:
curl http://192.168.1.99/discover.json

And show us the output from that as well

Hi I found the token following the ref above albeit it was to a home video file mpg (nothing to do with DVR) , inserted it to using Putty. http://127.0.0.1:32400/media/grabbers/devices?X-Plex-Token=??? ignored the Curl and <> as in your syntax and got an error, (see attached) so tried another files token same error. Then made sure again that antivirus, Firewall was off the Windows PC, that

Telnet and SSH connections were accessable, disable users & i/p lock outs on the QNAP just in case
Tried http://192.168.1.99/discover.json (Unable to open connection to http host does not exist

You are using putty wrongly, AFAICT

image

  1. IP of QNAP
  2. Use 22 as port
  3. Make sure SSH is selected
  4. Press Open

If a security alert is shown, select Accept

For user name, use admin and for password Admins password

If you see above, select Q

Then you are in a terminal, and can type your curl commands

Sorry about that I’m in the console :-)thanks

[~] # curl http://127.0.0.1:32400/media/grabbers/devicesdevices?X-Plex-Token=<???;-)>
-sh: syntax error near unexpected token `newline’

[~] # curl http://192.168.1.99/discover.json
curl: (7) Failed to connect to 192.168.1.99 port 80: No route to host
[~] #

I just tried it without the <> and got this, does this help?
[~] # curl http://127.0.0.1:32400/media/grabbers/devices?X-Plex-Token=wfvkd???

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> [~] #

In the terminal, please type:

ifconfig and show us the output

ifconfig results attached

You have two interfaces on the same IP Net.

qvs0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 5A:E4:D5:23:9D:32
          inet addr:192.168.1.228 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
          UP BROADCAST MULTICAST
br0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 24:5E:BE:0A:93:10
          inet addr:192.168.1.50 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
          UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST

Above is a no-go, and I guess PMS is using the wrong one

Interface qvs0 is mostly used by docker, so are you using docker?
And if not, then disable the interface in your network settings, and restart your QNAP
