QNAP TS-451+ : Server could not be found

Hi, I’ve looked through all of the questions on this and tried all of the suggestions but none are coming to fruition. Also, it won’t let me add this question to the QNAP directory. I do apologize for pasting it in the general discussion.

Firstly, what kinda worked:
If I install PMS directly through the App Center on QNAP, I get the older release but it works and I have to setup a new media library from scratch. However, with that version, I constantly get the “Server is unclaimed” which I was able to resolve by signing in and out.

But the trouble is the lag times on using that release and constantly getting the update issue. Also, if I restart the QNAP, I lose this library and it doesn’t sync with my Plex account.

September 13 release:
To resolve the manual update required above, I downloaded [PlexMediaServer_1.1.4.2757-24ffd60_x86.qpkg] and manually installed it from the App Center on QNAP in four iterations now:

  • Overwriting the existing QNAP version above
  • Removing the QNAP version and clean install - 3 times - once in the regular session, once with a restart and once with a full server shutdown

In all of the above, I get the “Server is unavailable” error and Plex continuously seeks to find the server but to no avail. Instead, I get the message that Plex is looking for servers and asks me to download the Plex Media Server. Why would it ask me to download the Media Server when I’ve just launched it from the QNAP home screen?? And if I do proceed to the download, it serves me the same QPKG file mentioned above.

I’ve also tried to get the PMS logs but I’m unable to gain access to the root directory of my NAS. I’ve read through the QNAP FAQs and gone through trying to use SSH on my Mac Mini to connect into it but to no avail.

I’m literally at my wits end on this now. I’m unsure what I have to do to make this work. And I have very little hair left to pull out :stuck_out_tongue:

Same issue on Ubuntu 16.04 with the same Plex install version. People on /r/plex are reporting the same issue here. Plex really dropped the ball on this update.

Anyone know how to find the download URL for the previous version?

Ok, now that you have found my problem, I can sleep. I had this problem as well and my iPad Pro wasn’t working from one day to the next and I started down the road to reinstall my PMS on my QNAP NAS … guess I could have waited until Plex fixed this update. Thank you mayangkarg
