Server Version#: Version 1.14.1.5488
Player Version#: IOS 5.9.1
So far this is by far been the least user-friendly setup of anything I’ve ever done.
I have a QNAS TVS-471, upgraded to 16GB Ram and loaded with four 5TB drives.
I am having an issue in that I finally figured out how to update Plex on it by manually downloading the package and then installing from the QNAS App Center.
I got a message that all was up to date, until today when I login to troubleshoot problem #3, my IOS App will not connect. Yesterday, the Plex server interface (launched from QNAP desktop into Chrome Browser) reported that the plex software was up to date, and it also reported (after setting up port forwarding on my router) that it was accessible from outside the network. Today, I log in and I get the following…
This server is unclaimed and not secure. Clicking the Claim Server button, it acts like it’s going to do something and then just resets to Claim Server button.
Even though I just updated it (and everything was successful) it says Version 1.14.1.5488 which is what I updated to, but today it says An Update is Available. When I click on the Install Manually button, it takes me to download area and wants me to download a Mac Version of the server (but I’m running it on QNAP). When I select QNAP, it downloads the exact same update again. It is NOT a new version.
The Remote Access area has an exclamation point and it once again says “Not available outside your network” and has a link to click that says Sign In first. I click the link and it takes me to the Claim Server screen.
WTF!!!
This is so annoying. Did I make a huge mistake investing in this QNAP and trying to use PLEX’s server software?
What the heck am I supposed to do at this point since nothing is working as advertised? Can’t click the Sign In and sign in. Can’t click the Claim Server. And apparently… I can’t get help from Plex even though I bought the Plex Pass!!!
I looked at your other post (4 days ago), which is marked Solved.
Would you please install the PMSLibShare QNAP package (written by one of the Plex Ninjas) ?
Its purpose is to create a share which you can access from FileStation.
In that share, you can open to direct access of your Plex server’s log files.
I would like you to create a ZIP of the :Logs directory (drill down into the share until you see then Right-Click on it).
That ZIP file will tell me what is and what isn’t happening.
Thank ChuckPA… yes my previous post I solved myself. I was a dope and attempted to paste the file path for the Library instead of using the browse button, so I replied and marked it as solved.
I have created the logs archive you requested and attached. I had given up and stopped mucking with it… but yesterday I was adding the plex app to my fireTV stick in the living room and during that process the app prompted me that my server was unclaimed, but when I clicked on it in the FireTV app to claim it, it worked whereas it did not in the browser.
Also, when I logged in just now by launching Plex from QNAP desktop into the same browser as before… it is not giving the unclaimed server message any longer AND it is not saying there is an update available and to install manually like before, even thought the version 1.14.1.5488 is the same as it was when it was saying an update was available.
Finally, I decided to turn off wi-fi and check to see if I could now use Plex outside of my LAN on my iPhone and guess what… it is working now.
I have no idea what the issue was, but apparently whatever was broken was fixed after installing the app on the FireTV in the living room and clicking the claim button there. Keep in mind when I was trying to figure this out before, I tried rebooting the QNAP, logging in/out on my computer, my wife’s computer, my phone, and the FireTV stick in our bedroom I had already installed it on. Weird. And also know that I did the claim process and had everything working before, it just decided to stop working the day I started this thread. I don’t get it. Maybe the logs will tell you something.
Thanks moody_blue… I made that setting adjustment. I have no idea what the 169.254.100.100 is, or how it came to any sort of conclusion that this would be it’s interface. The QNAS uses DHCP, but I had already set my Peplink Router to reserve that IP (.32) for it… and when I launch the Plex interface from the QNAP desktop, it always launches at that IP, so I have no idea how/why the mystery IP ended up on the radar. Maybe changing that Preferred Network Interface from Any to that specific Ethernet address will prevent further oddities.
