HI
I bought a QNAP TS 464 to stream high quality movies to my LG C1 that is connected by optical cabel to a reciver capable of playing Dolby Digital sound (I have a 5.1 speaker setup) but I have run into some issues
I get lag when trying to run a 65gb 4K movie with DTS tracks like DTS-HD MA 7.1. I can see that it is trancoding with hw. If I send the dts sound straight through it will not work as the C1 cant passthrough DTS (the movie will play without sound). In this case I use the built in plex player in the LG TV
So of course I can choose to only play 4k files with AC3 sound as my sound system cant do better anyway but I noticed that I can transcode the movie just fine when using a google chromecast TV to another TV.
Why are those scenarios different? Both are transcoding the movie and i one case it will lag and in the other case it will not? If I buy another Chromecast to my C1 TV will that solve my current sound issues?
By the way: The C1 TV is connected to high speed wifi just next to the TV and the chromecast on the other TV is connected through gb interface. LG C1 only has 100mbit ethernet so that is why I run that wireless for better throughput
EDIT I tried the chromecast on the c1 tv and then I dont get surround only stereo.
